My old clunker bike gets me around my neighborhood quickly and efficiently. It has a nifty basket in which I can carry groceries and other stuff that needs carrying. Unfortunately, every so often people use it as a trash bin.
I keep my old clunker bike parked on the street in front of my apartment building where it awaits to ferry me to the local subway stop or the grocery store whenever I want. I keep the bike locked up on the street, usually without much thought to vandalism or fear of theft. Recently, to my dismay however, some idiot has been dumping trash into the basket attached to the front of the bike, and even leaving crap balanced on various parts of the bike, something that I equate to vandalism. It's not a lot of garbage, usually just one piece of trash. I've found cigarette boxes and paper cups tossed into the basket and even milk cartons perched on my rear rack! I get pissed off every time I see a piece of garbage tossed onto my bike. The fool who keeps doing this is a lazy bastard who can't dispose of his own junk. I find this reflects the mindset of some that their environment is a place that they can literally trash (pun intended) and pollute without consequences. Dump enough garbage and pollution around you (including people's bikes) and you'll start to piss people off. I just wished people had more respect for their environment and those around them.
A cigarette box carefully placed on the bottom bracket. Nice placement.
A milk carton!!!! Nice balancing act.
A paper cup in the basket.
Another cigarette box. |
