The Taipei Zoo is a great place to hang out, strech your legs and see some interesting animals. Sometimes, though, you wonder if the people wandering about should be on the other side of the fence.
For a zoo, the Taipei Zoo is not a bad place. They have plenty of animals in fairly spacious enclosures, though I personally think keeping animals locked up in any form or fashion is kind of sad. One day, while at the zoo, I saw this pretty funny scene. Rules and regulations, like in many Asian societies, usually place second fiddle to social relationships and connections. I sometimes wonder if the kids milling about should be on the other side of the fence. Hummm . . . what does that sign say? You probably couldn't contain this bunch, even if you wanted to! Oh . . . |
