A contractor wanted nearly US$700 to make a prop fire hydrant for a booth my company was having at the Taipei International Cycle Show, which ran from from March 17-20. I wanted to show that the prop could be built for much, much less. I ended up making something mostly from recycled materials and costing less than US$30.
I made the fire hydrant in a total time of about three days. I estimate that I spent a total of about 12 hours on the project, including the time used to get the marterials. It was one of those on the spur of the moment, obsessive compulsive things. Heck, I had fun making it and it turned out OK.
