A (large) spider in the stairwell Yikes! A huge spider! Being a semi-tropical climate, bugs here in Taiwan can grow to a fairly large size, like this spider hanging in the stairwell of my apartment building.
Luckily, I don't come across critters like this too often. This particular fellow was a little bit bigger than the size of my palm. It's probably just waiting around for a roach to wander by. Roaches get pretty big here too, but that's another story.
There are hiking trails near my house where a huge variety of pretty butterflies float about, with many of them of the giagantic type (bigger than my hand). Warm, wet climes seem to breed big bugs. I'm just glad that Taiwan isn't any warmer or wetter. |
