I've observed that many "temporary" fixes to problems end up being more permanent than expected. Also half-assed efforts sometimes end up being more effective than the most meticulously laid plans carried out with precise execution. 

A case in point is my first YouTube movie. I was curious about how the upload procedure for YouTube worked so I made this really quick on-the-spot video clip of a kitten my girlfriend's brother had brought home. The video was nothing special, just me playing a bit with the kitty. Using Windows Movie Maker, I slapped on a title, added some music and exported the movie and then uploaded it to YouTube and didn't think much of it afterwards.

Surprised by just how easy it was to make and upload movies, I then made one of a water garden on my balcony. For this movie I put in some real effort, thinking about the shots, doing a bunch of editing and even voice narration. I put it on YouTube and was thinking it'd get some decent hits because I put so much effort into producing a good video.

Two weeks later, I went back to YouTube to see how many hits the videos registered. My super quick, off the cuff kitty video had over 3,000 hits. Meticulously planned, filmed and edited water garden video: 30. As of January 25, 2007, kitty had 23,784  hits. Water garden: 209. It doesn't matter how well something is planned and carried out. If it isn't cute or is not what people want, it just wont' sell.
