Well, looks like we're screwed. In case you haven't heard, a major UN report came out about a month ago saying that the recent rise in average worldwide temperatures over the past 50 years is "very likely" caused by man-made sources.
Apparently among some of the wonderful effects we can likely expect from a warmer world are stronger hurricanes, rising sea levels, unseasonably warm weather and who knows what else.  Bye, bye iceberg! I highly recommend seeing the movie An Inconvenient Truth by Al Gore. Even if you are a global warming skeptic, it'd be good to at least hear how we, humankind, may be totally screwing up our one and only little piece of habitable real estate on this end of the galaxy. Darn, now popsicles will be melting faster in summer. Time to break out the shaved ice. |
